• Are semi-permanent makeup pigments natural?

• The pigments for semi-permanent makeup are primarily composed of iron oxide and carbon powder, which are known to cause very few allergic reactions in the human body. These pigments are created by mixing natural pigment powders with distilled water, alcohol, and glycerin, then subjecting them to high temperature, high pressure, and sterilization processes.

  Pigment Composition and Manufacturing Process

  Pigments are categorized into pigments (안료) and dyes (염료).

  • Pigments refer to solid powder components that do not dissolve in water or solvents.
  • Dyes are highly water-soluble pigments used to color materials like fibers, leather, and fabrics.

  Semi-permanent makeup exclusively uses pigments. These pigments are further divided into:

  • Inorganic pigments: Obtained from natural minerals or plants. They are commonly used for semi-permanent eyebrow and eyeliner pigments.
  • Organic pigments: Primarily derived from natural plants. They are widely used for semi-permanent lip pigments.
